Sarah Villa joined the Teen Success, Inc. team in June of 2016. Sarah is the Program Manager for the Central San Joaquin Valley and her passion is serving teen parents. Sarah has almost 20 years of direct, hands-on, experience in providing education, support, and mentoring to teen parents regarding family health, parenting, reproductive health, and the importance of continuing education.
Prior to coming to Teen Success, Inc., Sarah worked with Fresno Barrios Unidos for 11 years. In addition to working directly with teen parents, she worked with FBU staff to build a thriving and vibrant Teen Success program in Fresno. While employed by FBU, she worked collaboratively with a number of non-profit organizations and foundations to provide greater levels of service to the diverse ethnic communities of the Central San Joaquin Valley.
Sarah’s passion to serve teen parents came from first-hand experience. She raised 2 children as a teen mother and knows the importance of support, mentoring, and education. Her experience allows her to tell a personal story of the journey of raising children and the importance of parenting and acting as a positive role model. With Sarah, it is not theoretical; it is her story and the day-to-day effort to make a difference in the lives of the teen parents and their families.
Sarah had also worked with Planned Parenthood Mar Monte as a Health Educator, implementing medically accurate comprehensive sex education in schools and teaching parents how to talk to their children about puberty and tough subjects.
In celebrating Sarah’s contribution to teen parents in the Central Valley, Sarah is the recipient of the 2007 Latino Heritage Award-Outstanding Leadership Award in the Non-Profit Category and the 2014 Teen Success Facilitator of the Year.
